PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The “Galleria Mappo-Morettina” is 5512m long and is situated at North side of the Lago Maggiore in motorway A13. The tunnel for bi-directional traffic in 2 lanes runs largely under the city of Locarno. The name of the tunnel originates from the 2 villages Mappo at the West side of the tunnel and Morettina at the east side. To comply with new safety standards. Amongst others the ventilation system has been renewed.
