The project: Hatfield tunnel for A1M Motorway through the Hertfordshire town of Hatfield.
Scope of Supply: Zitrón’s scope of works for the project comprises the design, delivery, installation, and commissioning of the tunnel jet fans, the fans were designed to withstand the operation under fire conditions and rated for 250 °C / 2 hours operation.
Due to the extremely environmental conditions, the tunnel ventilation system was fully refurbished, and it included all the jet fans replacement to work properly under these environmental conditions.
Zitron’s challenge was to design and select the proper materials and manufacturing process to ensure the 50 years design life under these conditions. The installation and commissioning of the entire ventilation system to reduce as much as possible the tunnel operation was one of the project keys to complete it successfully.
