PROJECT DESCRIPTION

The project: Sydney Metro Northwest (formerly the North West Rail Link) is the first stage of Sydney, compromising eight railway stations and 36 kilometres of track between Chatswood and Rouse Hill. With 15 km twin tunnels between Bella Vista and Epping (30 km total bored tunnels), they are the longest rail tunnels built in Australia.

Scope of Supply: Zitrón’s scope of works comprises the engineering, design, construction, delivery and commissioning of the tunnel axial fans for the Tunnel Ventilation system (TVS) as also for the Track Exhaust system (TES). The fans were designed to withstand the operation under fire conditions and rated for 300 °C / 2 hours operation.

All the fans delivered to the project were fitted with high efficiency anti-stall rings to protect the fans protect the fans from train induced pressures and allowing for a safe fan operation while maintaining high efficiency rate and lower power consumption.
